FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers about how we work, what it costs, and whether we're a fit.

What is a business operating system?

A business operating system is the complete set of processes, workflows, reporting, and accountability structures that make a business run predictably — instead of running on the owner's memory and heroics. The LIGC Business OS analyzes your operations, finds the root causes limiting growth, and installs the systems that fix them: documented workflows, automation where it pays, KPIs you actually watch, and clear responsibilities for your team.

How much does a business consultant cost in El Paso?

It varies widely — from a few hundred dollars for a focused assessment to several thousand per month for ongoing systems work. At LIGC we start free: the Business Health Score costs nothing, and the initial assessment conversation costs nothing. From there, every proposal is scoped to a measurable return — if we don't believe the work will pay for itself, we'll tell you not to buy it.

Do you replace my staff with AI?

No. We use AI to handle the work that burns out your team — answering overflow calls, chasing follow-ups, data entry, reminders — so your people can do the work only people can do: skilled trades, judgment calls, and customer relationships. Our process explicitly includes deciding what should be automated and what should remain human.

Do I need to buy new software?

Usually not at first. Most businesses already have what they need — they just aren’t using it well. We start by improving the systems you already use (QuickBooks, spreadsheets, your phone, your CRM) and only recommend new software when it clearly creates more value than it costs. The goal is a better business, not more subscriptions.

What if my business runs on spreadsheets and whiteboards?

Then you have a starting point, not a problem. Plenty of healthy, profitable businesses run on spreadsheets, whiteboards, and notebooks. Technology doesn’t determine the health of a business — systems do. We make what you already use work better, and add tools only where they earn their place.

What if my employees aren’t technical?

That’s normal, and we design around it. The best system is the one your team will actually use. We improve workflows and document them in plain language, and any technology we add has to be simple enough for your people to adopt without a manual. Technology should adapt to your team — not the other way around.

Do you replace my existing systems and processes?

No — we improve them. We don’t walk in and tell you to throw everything out. We learn how you actually operate, keep what works, fix what doesn’t, and change only what needs changing. “Improve, don’t replace” is how we work.

What if I don’t want AI in my business?

That’s completely fine. AI is one tool among many, and plenty of our work involves no AI at all — just better processes, clearer accountability, and captured knowledge. We only ever recommend technology that creates measurable value, and we build systems that get stronger with AI rather than depending on it. If ChatGPT or Claude went down tomorrow, your business should still run.

Can you improve my current process without changing everything?

Yes — that’s often the best approach. We frequently make a big difference with targeted improvements: capturing a critical process that lived in someone’s head, fixing one broken handoff, or adding follow-up where leads were slipping. We change as little as possible to get the outcome you’re after.

How do you start an engagement?

Three steps. First, take the free 5-minute Business Health Score on our website. Second, book a free assessment call where we review your score and your biggest bottleneck. Third, if it makes sense, we propose a scoped Operations Assessment with clear deliverables. No long-term contract required to start.

What size businesses do you help?

Small to midsize businesses — typically from owner-operators with a couple of trucks up to companies with 50–100 employees. The common thread is an owner who is too deep in the day-to-day and a business that has outgrown its informal systems.

Do you work with trades like plumbers, electricians, and HVAC?

Yes — trades are our specialty. Plumbers, electricians, HVAC companies, contractors, and other service businesses have exactly the problems our systems fix: missed calls, scheduling chaos, slow invoicing, weak collections, and no follow-up system.

What makes LIGC different from an AI agency?

AI agencies start with technology and look for somewhere to apply it. We start with your business — 25 years of real operations experience (Plant Manager, VP of Operations, COO) — and only apply AI or automation where it creates measurable return. Sometimes the right fix is a process change or better accountability, not software. We tell you the truth either way.

How long does it take to see results?

Quick wins — like call capture, follow-up automation, or same-day invoicing — typically show results within the first 30 days. Deeper systems work, like full workflow documentation and dashboards, usually delivers in 60–90 days. Every engagement defines its success metrics up front, so you always know whether it worked.

Do you only work with businesses in El Paso?

El Paso and the Borderplex region are home base, and we serve local businesses in person. For systems, automation, and SEO work, we can also serve clients remotely anywhere in Texas and beyond.

Do you offer services in Spanish?

Sí. We serve the El Paso market bilingually — assessments, documentation, and support are available in English and Spanish.

What is AEO (Answer Engine Optimization)?

AEO is optimizing your business to be the answer when customers ask AI assistants — ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Google AI — who to hire. It complements traditional local SEO: structured data, clear service descriptions, and content that AI systems can cite. We build both into every website we touch.

What happens on the free assessment call?

We review your Business Health Score, dig into your single biggest bottleneck, and give you at least one concrete fix you can implement immediately — whether or not you hire us. If there's a fit, we explain exactly what an engagement would look like and what it would cost. No pressure, no obligation.
